The Student Philosophical Association of Nicolaus of NCU
The Student Philosophical Association of Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) has been active since 2022. Its meetings take the form of invited lectures (featuring speakers from the Institute of Philosophy, other UMK departments, and academic institutions across Poland), as well as seminars devoted to collective reading and discussion. A wide range of topics in philosophy and related disciplines is explored.
Within the framework of the Association’s activities, several thematic sections have been established, including: Feminist, Psychoanalytic, Social Theory, Counter-Hegemonic Readings, and Young Affinity Scholars (focusing on feminist new materialisms). The Association’s program reflects the current philosophical interests of its members, and all meetings are open to the public.
- Among the Association’s most significant achievements is its co-organization of nationwide, interdisciplinary academic conferences:
-
- “Interweavings of Polyphonic Perspectives: Counter-Hegemonic Practices” (June 7–8, 2024)
- “Interweavings of Polyphonic Perspectives II” (May 29–June 1, 2025)
-
- These conferences are dedicated to exploring tensions and alliances among diverse critical theories and discourses.
